The Results of Feast Mass #6

We had an amazingly successful Feast on Saturday night. We awarded our largest grant ever—$1055—to Alaina Gurdak for her project Big Class Boston. We served pickled vegetables, salad, flatbreads, beer, ice cream and maple oat cake to about 100 guests. It was held at 549 Columbus Ave, a co-working and community space in the South End, and the studio of some of the Feast organizers.

In the past we've given a first and second place grant, but this time we decided to make a larger impact by giving just one prize to a single winner. And thanks to everyone who generously paid $15 instead of the $10 we've asked in the past, we were also able to support our excellent purveyors—local farms, breweries, orchards, and more—instead of relying on donations to feed our guests and raise the grant. The thanks are many, but in the realm of food and drink, they go to:

Apex Orchards, Shelburne Falls
Big Sky Bakery, Watertown, MA
Boston Organics
Brookledge Sugarhouse, Whately, MA
Cape Ann Brewing Company
Fiddler’s Green Farm, Belfast, ME
Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project
Red Fire Farm, Granby, MA
Shady Oaks Organics
Toscanini’s

We also had a special cross-country video toast with our counterparts at Sprout, Seattle's own version of Feast Mass, who were holding their supper the very same night. Feast Mass and Sprout are both part of a huge network of micro-grant suppers around the world, all the way from Grand Rapids to Cairo. Info about all of them can be found at SundaySoup.org.

All of Saturday's proposals are posted below, and if you're curious, the menu is on view under Past Menus. Photos and videos to come.

Tremendous thanks to everyone who came, donated, voted and helped us make it happen. See you next time!
